Declan Keenan’s ‘An inauguration of a MacWilliam Íochtair at Rausakeera, Co. Mayo, during the Nine Years War’ (HI 29.6, Nov./Dec. 2021) included the line (p. 23, top of first column) ‘He [Theobald ne Long (Theobald of the Ships)] had reportedly access to three galleys and a mini-navy comprising hundreds of ships, a rarity in Gaelic Ireland’. A rarity indeed, because it should have read ‘He had reportedly access to three galleys and a mini-navy comprising of hundreds, a rarity in Gaelic Ireland’. So in fact he had three galleys manned by approximately 300 men-at-arms. And in the same issue, in Laurence Geary’s ‘Vaccination in Ireland: the evolution of a process’, the image credits for the Wellcome Collection (pp 29 & 31) were misspelt. The errors were the editor’s, not the authors’, and the appropriate amendments have been made to the online versions.—Ed.
