Collins a womaniser?

Published in 20th-century / Contemporary History, Issue 4 (Winter 1995), Letters, Revolutionary Period 1912-23, Volume 3

Sir,—I am one of many who don’t know much about Michael Collins, but Ihave done an oral history of someone who served under him from 1919until the split. This man clearly read Tim Pat Coogan’s     biographyas stating that Collins   was a ‘womaniser’ (contrary to Ian McKeane,HI Autumn 1995),  but asserted that he had not been aware of thispreviously. Incidentally, I have almost tired of trying to alert someCollinsophile that a letter he wrote the night before he was shot, which may shed some light on the activites surrounding his death, resides in an obscure repository in Australia. Anyone interested?—Yoursetc.,
