Published in 20th-century / Contemporary History, Issue 3 (May/Jun 2008), Letters, Letters, Volume 16, World War I

Sir,

—I am currently undertaking research for a Ph.D at Queen’sUniversity, Belfast, on the 10th (Irish) Division in the Great War.Drawing its recruits from all sectors of the Irish population, northand south, Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter, and from every one ofthe four provinces, the division was the first and least well known ofthe three divisions raised in Ireland over the course of the war. Iwould be interested to hear from anyone who had a relative who servedin an Irish battalion at Gallipoli, Salonika or Palestine betweenAugust 1915 and November 1918.

—Yours etc.,
