Dance halls

Published in Issue 4 (July/August 2015), Letters, Volume 23

Sir,—I am doing research on the dance halls in rural Ireland during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. My research will be based on people’s memories, and I would be very pleased to hear from any readers who attended dances during this period, remember them, or have any photographs taken at dances or perhaps clothes worn to dances during this period. Your everyday memories from these dances would be a great source of information for my research. No detail is insignificant, and no experience unimportant; it is the everyday experience of going to dances at this time that I am interested in.—Yours etc.,
